This misdemeanor crime carries a maximum penalty of $500 in fines and one year in prison.   • If you drive a vehicle without Michigan auto insurance, you can be sued and held personally liable for all injuries and damages that result from an accident, including your own.
  • An owner or operator of a motor vehicle who knowingly produces false evidence under this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for not more than one year, or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both.
